Get a mai tai on the ocean terrace and watch the sunset hit the water. Arrive by 4:30 or you're standing. The terrace has two tables that actually face the cove instead of Prospect Street. One of them is yours if you're early enough.

Get there before 9 AM when the cove is still yours. The water is clearest in summer. Seals hang in the shallows. Skip midday crowds entirely. The cove is the same at 3 PM with half the bodies in the sand.
