Walk down Camino Del Oro before the park crowds hit. The overlook faces southwest, so afternoon light hits the cliffs right. The benches are weathered and all face the water. Go alone or with one person. Groups don't belong here.

Get there before 9 AM when the cove is still yours. The water is clearest in summer. Seals hang in the shallows. Skip midday crowds entirely. The cove is the same at 3 PM with half the bodies in the sand.
